According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, the total value of China’s foreign trade was 13.32 trillion yuan, up 5.8% year on year, including 7.67 trillion yuan of exports, up 10.6% year on year; Imports reached 5.65 trillion yuan, up 0.02% year on year.

Statistics show that ASEAN continues to be China’s largest trading partner, with imports and exports to ASEAN reaching 2.09 trillion yuan, up 13.9% year on year, accounting for 15.7% of China’s total foreign trade. Its import and export to the EU reached 1.8 trillion yuan, up by 4.2% year on year and 2.2 percentage points higher than that in the first quarter. In the first four months, China’s imports and exports to countries along the Belt and Road reached 4.61 trillion yuan, up 16% year on year, 10.2 percentage points higher than the country as a whole. Exports to Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries increased by 37.4 percent, while exports to Saudi Arabia and other West Asian and North African countries increased by 9.6 percent.

According to customs statistics, in the first four months of this year, China had 415,000 private enterprises with export and import records, an increase of 8.9 percent year-on-year. Private enterprises continue to maintain their status as the largest business entity in China’s foreign trade. Imports and exports of private enterprises reached 7.05 trillion yuan, up 15.8 percent year on year, accounting for 52.9 percent of China’s total foreign trade value. In the first four months of this year, imports and exports in the central and western regions totaled 2.45 trillion yuan, up 10.6 percent year on year, according to customs statistics.
